The Mavericks’ journey in the tournament was marked by a mix of challenges and triumphs. In the first round, they were awarded a win by forfeit against Kempner, setting the tone for their tournament run. However, a tough loss in the second round tested their resilience.
“We’re proud of our team’s resilience and determination,” Coach Steven Davis said. “Despite facing adversity, they bounced back strong and demonstrated their capabilities on the field.”
Undeterred, the team regrouped and refocused their efforts, culminating in a dominant 4-0 win in the third-place match.
“This third place finish is a testament to their hard work and dedication,” Davis said.
Goalkeeper Carolina Solorza played a crucial role in the team’s success, making key saves throughout the tournament.
“It was a great experience, and I’m glad we could finish on a high note,” Solorza said. “Our team’s communication and coordination were key to our success, and I’m proud of how we worked together.”
Junior Alexa Martinez delivered standout performances, scoring crucial goals to help the team secure their podium finish.
“We worked together as a team and supported each other throughout the tournament,” Martinez said.
The Lady Mavericks’ third-place finish marks a significant achievement as they continue to build momentum for the season. With their resilience, teamwork, and determination, they are set to make an impact in high school soccer.
“It was an incredible experience, and I’m proud of what we achieved,” Martinez said. “We’re already looking forward to our next games.”
